There are three types of models on the laptop market today: netbooks, laptops and ultrabooks. Each variety has specific characteristics ranging from performance to size. But how to distinguish them and which model to choose?

The oldest term is laptop. The diagonal of this device is usually in the range from 15 to 17 inches. However, some manufacturers refer to this category and equipment with monitors of 14 inches, but these are more likely ultrabooks.

Laptops, as a rule, are a worthy replacement for a regular desktop computer. They have quite powerful technical characteristics, a disk drive and a full-size keyboard.

Despite their portability, not all laptops can be carried around with you all the time. This is primarily due to physical discomfort. The wide diagonal of the screen does not add to the compactness of the computer, and the large weight does not allow carrying the bag in your hands for a long time.

In addition, the battery life of most models leaves much to be desired. On average, this is 3-4 hours. This time is enough to move freely around the house or yard without needing to charge, but taking such a computer somewhere else is quite problematic.

It is better to choose such models for people who often work at home and on the street. If you are going to always carry your computer with you, you better look for other models.

Netbooks

In netbooks, performance takes a back seat to portability. The screen diagonal of such devices is within 10-12 inches. The netbooks are very light in weight and have long battery life.

Another important advantage of netbooks is their low price. However, this rule does not apply to all models. Already, netbooks are being produced that can compete with the technical characteristics of many stationary computers. But for the most part, the price of an average netbook is in the range of 8-12 thousand rubles.

This is ideal for people who always want to have a work machine on hand, but don't want to spend a lot of money.

Ultrabooks

If you see a very thin laptop on the store shelves, it's probably an ultrabook. Widespread use of the term began in 2011, when Intel released the first line of thin notebook computers called ultrabooks.

Such computers are distinguished by medium-sized monitors and very light weight. They usually have a respectable appearance and good performance. Ultrabooks can run up to several thousand dollars. Compactness and style come at a cost.

Ultrabooks are usually bought by respectable people who value quality and portability. Inexpensive models are perfect for those who want to have access to a computer all the time, but do not want to sacrifice performance.
