If you neglect to check the iPad before purchasing, then instead of the original gadget from Apple, you can get a low-quality fake. Despite the huge variety of counterfeit devices, it is easy to check if the product you are offered to buy is original. This opportunity was provided by the company itself.
Instructions
Step 1
Find your iPad serial number. This number is written on the package itself after the word Serial and usually consists of 11 characters. Go to the Apple official website and in the Support tab, find the "Check your eligibility for service and support" section or follow the link at the end of the article. Enter this serial number in the appropriate field.
Step 2
If the iPad is a fake, then the system will not find such a "serial" in its database. If, after all, the device is original, then a message will appear on the screen stating that warranty information is not available, since the device has not been activated. This message confirms that you are the first owner of this iPad. If the device has already been repaired and someone has used it, the search result will be information about this.
Step 3
After checking the serial number on the box was successful, you can congratulate yourself, but it's too early to relax. There are often cases when the box and the device do not match. Therefore, you need to open the package (it must be sealed in plastic) and check the serial number on the iPad with the one you just checked on the Apple website. If the sets of numbers do not match, then, of course, you are holding a fake in your hands.
Step 4
Check the package contents. If the iPad is real, then the box should contain: a USB adapter, a charger (the plug itself), two Apple stickers, instructions in Russian. No headphones and additional bonus accessories, no matter how nice, should not be here. Also, if you buy an iPad with 3G, then carefully examine the back panel for the presence of an antenna: at the top of the device you will see an insert (it should not stick out).
Step 5
Ask the seller to activate the iPad after (or better before) the purchase. or do it yourself without leaving the store. The serial number on the device itself can be viewed in the "Settings" section by selecting "About this device" in the "General" tab. In this case, if you did not notice something, and you did not manage to correctly check the iPad for originality, you can immediately file a claim to the seller for the quality of the goods and get your money back.
