Portable HDD is a very convenient device for transferring or storing large amounts of data. It is very easy to choose a portable HDD - you just need to know what characteristics you need to focus on.

We go to the site of any computer online store, go to the category with portable HDDs and look for a filter by characteristics.

Choosing a manufacturer. The best manufacturer of portable HDDs (and hard drives in general) is now considered to be Seagate. The second most popular company is Transcend. I recommend choosing only portable drives from these manufacturers whenever possible.
Step 3
Choosing a form factor. The main difference here is not in size, but in the way of connection. The 2.5 "form factor means that the drive can simply be plugged into a USB port on your computer. 3.5" means that the drive needs power from a wall outlet - such a drive is not fully portable. But it can store 2-4 times more data, and some of these disks can be connected to the network so that several computers can have full access to it.
Step 4
We choose the capacity. Do not forget that the real size of the hard disk will be slightly lower than the written one (by ~ 3%), so choose a capacity with a margin.
