Choosing a TV is not easy. The choice in stores is huge. And how to understand which of this variety is right for you? Let's take a look at the main parameters.

Choosing a TV (part 1: diagonal and type)
Choosing a TV (part 1: diagonal and type)

First you need to decide on the diagonal of the TV. To do this, we will take as a basis the unspoken rule of "three diagonals", that is, this means that from the viewing place to the TV set there must be at least three TV diagonals. Otherwise, when viewing, your eye will simply not be able to perceive the entire picture as a whole.

The next thing you should choose for yourself after deciding on the diagonal is the TV technology: plasma or LCD (LCD or LED).

Plasma less than 32 inches does not exist, and if you take the FullHD quality, then the diagonal there starts from 42.

Plasma picture is clearer and more realistic. She has a high contrast. Plasma also has a wider viewing angle and a short response time.

However, plasma has enough disadvantages. Due to the low brightness of plasma, it will be problematic to watch such a TV in a sunny room. Plasma also has a high power consumption and is more cumbersome (when compared with an LCD, and not with a kinescope). Plasma is also considered less durable, but time does not stand still, and already now manufacturers declare the same service life with LCDs, so you can ignore this.

In principle, LCD as such has practically outlived its own and was replaced by LED technology, so we will only consider it.

LED TVs have better brightness, so a sunny room is not a big problem for them. They also have less power consumption. And they themselves are much thinner than plasmas. But the viewing angle and response time are worse than those of plasmas (although this is not fatal for an ordinary TV in an ordinary apartment).
