An oscillating circuit is a kind of system that oscillates, which is an electrical circuit containing, in turn, a capacitor and an inductor. In such a circuit, voltage and current fluctuations are excited, which is necessary for the operation of many devices. The success of the equipment depends on the correct tuning of the oscillatory circuit.

Instructions

Step 1

Determine the frequency to which the loop is already tuned. If you set the required frequency right away and try to tune the loop to it, then it can be further detuned.

Step 2

Tune the generator to a frequency that is known to be higher than necessary. After that, gradually decrease the frequency until a clearly defined deviation of the tuning indicator arrow at the output of the tuned device is obtained. The more sensitive the tuned amplifier is, the higher the chance of error. When tuning the generator to frequencies that are higher than the frequency of the circuit, all harmonics will be higher, and the very first deviation of the indicator arrow will show the correct tuning frequency of the oscillatory circuit.

Step 3

After determining the tuning frequency of the loop, decide whether to tune it to a lower or higher frequency. In the first case, increase the inductance by screwing in the core or increasing the number of turns. In the second, reduce the inductance of the coil by unscrewing the ferromagnetic core from it or by reducing the number of turns.

Step 4

You can also tune the circuit by measuring the capacitance of the capacitor. Decrease the capacitance of the capacitor to increase the resonance frequency, and vice versa, to lower the frequency, increase the capacitance of the capacitor. However, it is better to tune the amplifier circuit by changing the inductance of its coil, because the capacitance of the amplifying circuit is chosen taking into account the stability of its operation and any change is undesirable.

Step 5

Make sure the tuning of the oscillating circuit is correct. The tuning can be considered successful if a slight change in the generator frequency in any direction will lead to a decrease in the readings on the tuning indicator. If, with a decrease in frequency, at least some increase in the readings on the indicator is observed, then the circuit was tuned to a higher frequency.
