While most cell phones only have model, firmware and IMEI numbers, Nokia devices have another number - Product Code. It depends on three parameters: the phone model, its color, and the region in which it is intended for sale. All devices with the same combination of these parameters have the same Product Code.
Instructions
Step 1
Disconnect the phone from the charger and close all applications on it. Disconnect its power supply. To do this, either hold down the power button for a long time, or press it briefly, and then select the "Turn off!" Item in the menu. (with an exclamation mark) or similar.
Step 2
When the phone screen turns off, wait a few more seconds, and then remove the battery cover first, and then the battery itself. On some models (eg N8), this will require two bolts to be removed. Don't lose them!
Step 3
In addition to the SIM card, you will also find a sticker under the battery. The Product Code number on it is located between the two barcodes after the word CODE, colon and space. It always has seven digits, the first two of which are 05. Write it down, then replace the battery and compartment cover. Switch on your phone.

You can find out the Product Code without disassembling the phone using a special site:
Once you open it, find your phone model in the list on the right and click on the corresponding link. If you select the combination of the phone color with the country for delivery to which it is intended from the list, you will find its Product Code.
Using this service, you can also use a code in the phone's battery compartment to determine whether the device is intended for delivery to your country. If not intended, an authorized service center may refuse to repair it.
Step 5
Participants of some specialized forums suggest using a special program to determine the Product Code - ANT Simple Tool. In fact, the use of this program can be extremely dangerous for the reason that its developers do not have an official website, and therefore it can be downloaded only from dubious file hosting services, where there is a high probability of deliberate placement of variants of this program infected with viruses and trojans.

Enter the product code into the form on the following site:
You will receive the latest firmware version number for the unit. Compare it with the current firmware version number of your device, which can be found by typing the command "* # 0000 #" on the phone keyboard (without quotes and pressing the call button), and you will be able to conclude that it is necessary to update it.
