In our country, the level of sales of counterfeit discs is more than sixty percent of the total. This means that in sixty cases out of a hundred you can buy a disc of not just bad, but very poor quality. At the same time, there are some simple tricks that can be used to distinguish a licensed optical media from a bad pirated copy.

Instructions

Step 1

Pay attention to the packaging. Licensed discs are usually packed either in transparent R5 boxes, sealed in cellophane, or in plastic boxes, usually gray in color with two- or three-leaf holders. Pirate CDs are usually packaged in black boxes and come with a four-blade holder. There must be a holographic sticker on the package.

Step 2

Shake the disc box. It should not rattle, all the more crumble, which often happens with counterfeit products. Also look at the integrity of the packaging. If it is broken, it is possible to replace the original disc with a fake.

Step 3

Now look at the printing industry. On the cover of the licensed disc, all information is presented in Russian or in English. On a pirated copy, some of the text may be in Russian, and some in English. Pictures must be clear (they often blur on fakes). The colors on the original are much brighter than those on the copy.

Step 4

See what is included with the disc. The original, as a rule, is accompanied by the manufacturer's license agreement, the pirated copy of the license does not.

Step 5

Open the box and evaluate the quality of the disc itself. You can often see streaks on the surface of counterfeit media. They appear due to uneven application of the aluminum layer and are the cause of poor image quality.

Step 6

Read the inscription on the inner rim of the disc. Check if it is original. This can be checked on any site of anti-piracy structures in their database.

Step 7

Pay attention to the disc menu. Only in a pirated disc can the menu be static. The absence of a menu also indicates the illegality of the product.

Step 8

See if there are additions to the basic information. Licensed optical media, as a rule, have additional information, for example, new releases from film distribution. All additions must be in Russian.

Step 9

Last but not least, buy discs from specialized stores. If you are purchasing very cheap CDs in the marketplace or in an underpass, rest assured the products are not legal.
