Step 1
To find out the company that serves a mobile phone number, first look at its DEF code. It reflects the correspondence of this or that number to the cellular operator. Look at the display of the device. In the row of digits of the telephone number, find the first three digits following the international code. For example, if you were called from Russia, then in the number + 7-901-564-67-23 the international code will be 7, and the DEF-code will be 901.
Step 2
Look through the list of operators of the so-called "big three" - the companies "MTS", "Beeline" and "Megafon". These operators have the largest number of DEF codes. If the found three digits are in the range between 910 and 919, 980 and 989, it means that the subscriber who called you is using MTS services.
Step 3
If the DEF code corresponds to the interval from 920 to 928, 930 to 938 or 929 and 997, a subscriber of the Megafon network called you. Beeline subscribers are characterized by the presence of a DEF code ranging from 960 to 968, as well as 903, parts 905 - 906 and 909.
Step 4
If the DEF code you identified is not included in the intervals of one of the indicated operators, try searching among other cellular companies. For example, GSM operators use codes 900 and 902, 908, 904, 940, 955, 956, as well as code combinations in the range from 950 to 953. CDMA operators use 901 or 907 as a DEF code, and satellite operators apply the code 954. To find out on your own who exactly the number you need corresponds to, go to a specialized site that identifies telecom operators by a known phone number. Or download a program that has a built-in database of DEF-codes with the freeware status - they are freely available, but the safety of their use is not absolute.
