Interfaces surround us everywhere: phones, cars, streets and planes, ticket machines and websites - they are in everything that a person can influence by their actions.

What is UI and UX design

If the interface is the interaction of a person with an inanimate object, then the user interface is the interaction of a person and a computer: sites, mobile applications, programs. And this interaction must be designed by someone. This is done by interface designers, who are also called UI / UX designers. They work on the principles of the system, the sequence of actions that the user can carry out, the result that he will receive at the output, the clarity, beauty and convenience of the object in use. The goal of an interface designer is to make the interaction between a person and a program pleasant, logical and friendly; it is a job at the intersection of design, engineering, marketing and psychology.

The convenience and beauty of interfaces is often designed by the same person, but interfaces are becoming more and more complex, so the profession is divided into two. The User Interface Designer (UI) is the one in charge of beauty and pleasure. The User Experience Designer (UX) is the one who is responsible for the usability and alignment with the business objectives.

A UI designer deals with everything related to interface design and creates clear, coherent and beautiful interfaces for the user. His key responsibilities are: styling, layout creation, direct page design. It works with colors, icons, typography, navigation, menus, buttons, windows, animations, notifications. A UI specialist creates a design based on data received from a UX specialist.

A UX designer studies user problems, understands user behavior, and explores experience. The UX designer must make sure that the product works in a logical manner and solves specific problems. Key responsibilities of a UX pro: audience and product research, user scenario design. A UX designer is concerned with the user's “happiness”: the enjoyment and productivity of working with the interface, general understanding, and ease of problem solving.

The roles of both designers overlap, so it is impossible to deal only with UI without knowledge of UX - and vice versa.
