A home computer is often used to view movies or clips. Naturally, there is a desire to use not a monitor for viewing a picture, but a home TV. After all, it always has a large diagonal, and it is located more conveniently for comfortable watching a movie. And dynamic computer games look much better on the big screen.
All that remains is to connect the TV to your computer. As a rule, there are no difficulties with this, because most video cards are equipped with s-video connectors (externally resembles a ps / 2 connector for connecting a mouse or keyboard), and modern TVs are equipped with scart sockets (a rectangular block with two rows of 10 pins each) … Using a combination of these connectors is not the best option in terms of picture quality, but it is quite acceptable, and most importantly - the simplest and safest for a layman.
- Prepare an "s-video to s-video" cord, that is, one that has an s-video connector at both ends. Such a cord is not difficult to acquire. Choose the length in accordance with the distance from the computer to the TV and with a small margin. It is better to take a shielded cord - it will save the picture from unnecessary interference that degrades its quality.
- You will also need an adapter "SCART - s-video", which is also easy to purchase. There are cords with an s-video connector on one end and a tulip on the other. In this case, no adapter is required.
- To transmit sound to the TV, use a cord that has a regular stereo jack on one side and two tulips on the other.
- It remains to actually connect the TV to the computer. Insert the adapter into the TV socket. If it has a switch, set it to the "input" position. We connect the output of the video card and the connectors of the adapter with a cord. If necessary, connect the audio card output and the corresponding tulips with a second cord
- Turn on your TV. A second monitor should appear in Display Properties. It will be designated as 2 and the primary monitor as 1. The computer may need to be restarted for the operating system to notice the new hardware. Select the Extend my desktop onto this monitor check box.
- Switch the TV to the “video” (AV) channel and you will see the desktop wallpaper. If there are several such channels, then you will have to find the right one among them. Now you can open the video player, drag it onto the TV screen with the mouse, and then open it to full-screen mode.
