And in order to use these benefits of civilization, the computer must be taught to speak and see, that is, to connect a microphone and a web camera to it.

Step 1
To connect, we need to make sure that the sound card installed on the computer and the corresponding microphone jack are working. The sound card can be either built into the motherboard or installed in a separate slot. We are looking for three multi-colored inputs for a jack-type connector on the back of the system unit.
Step 2
Typically, no special microphone drivers are required. After connecting the microphone to the corresponding connector on the sound card, go to the Windows Control Panel in the properties of the general system volume mixer.

If we have Windows XP, select "Additional devices" and in the list that appears, put a tick in front of the "Microphone" device. In Windows Vista, select "Recorders" for setting the parameters. If the capabilities of the sound card allow, an additional option "Gain" will appear in the settings, with which you can compensate, for example, a long distance to the microphone.
Step 4
With the correct installation and connection of the microphone, we will immediately hear our own voice in the speakers of the computer. If desired, it can be recorded with special programs for working with sound.
