You can build several different laptop DSL connections. Some of them are designed to use several devices at once: a dsl modem and a Wi-Fi router. This allows the WAN router to be connected to the ADSL network.

Step 1
First, configure the parameters of the dsl modem. Connect it to a telephone line using the DSL connector. This connection is best done through a splitter for better signal transmission. Connect a network cable to the Ethernet port of the modem. Connect the other end to a laptop or desktop computer. Turn on this PC.
Step 2
Open a web browser and go to the modem settings interface. In this case, you only need to configure one item - WAN. Select PPPoE data transmission type and enter additional parameters: username, password and access point. Enable NAT function if this dsl modem allows it. Disable DHCP function. This will set the Wi-Fi router to a static IP address. Save settings and reboot dsl modem.
Step 3
Now disconnect the network cable from the computer and connect it to the WAN (Internet) port of the Wi-Fi router. Use a different network cable to connect the LAN port of the router to your computer. Open the wireless settings menu. Go to the WAN menu. Specify the IP address of the dsl modem as the access point. Change the communication protocol type to Static IP. Enable DHCP function to avoid additional configuration of computers and laptops.
Step 4
Enter the value of the IP address of the Wi-Fi router. It should differ from the dsl-modem address only in the last segment. Save the WAN menu settings.
Step 5
Open the Wireless Setup (Wi-Fi) menu. Configure the wireless access point. Do not forget to choose a type of security that is of sufficient quality. Save your wireless settings and reboot your Wi-Fi router. Make sure the device can access the internet. Connect mobile computers to a wireless access point. Connect stationary PCs to the LAN ports of the router.
