Apple, despite the recent big loss - the death of its mastermind Steve Jobs, continues to create and implement creative devices. On August 12, 2012, she received a patent No. 8249497 issued by the US Bureau of Inventions. The proposed device can be called an "advertising switch", it allows viewers and listeners to get rid of this obligatory and annoying component of media programs.
In the description of the invention it is said that it is intended for smooth switching of content reproduced by electronic media, television and radio and replacement of unwanted content for viewing or listening with inserts from other media libraries. This electronic device is able to independently determine how much the user is interested in the demonstrated local piece of the program or transmission. In the absence of such interest, this fragment is replaced by another suitable one, which is stored in the user's media library. When a media stream of interest to the viewer appears, the device starts broadcasting it again. The ad knob is a self-adjusting system, it will be able to remember the user's preferences thanks to a built-in function, similar to that found in Pandora Internet radio. While listening to it, the user can mark by pressing the corresponding button the composition he liked or put a mark that he did not like it. The device will be able to select and analyze the broadcast media files, creating a library of user preferences and offering to view or listen to materials in accordance with his taste. The company itself has not yet explained in which of its products it plans to use this device. However, there are persistent rumors that Apple is working on creating its own TV receiver. If, to all its merits, it is equipped with an advertising switch, it will have much more chances of becoming a market leader. There is a high probability that there will still be queues at the company's stores before the start of sales. It seems that many TV viewers and radio listeners will gladly take the opportunity to replace the annoying advertising block with an interesting cartoon, song or clip of their favorite group.
