CCTV cameras, undoubtedly, are the most reliable means to always be aware of events taking place at home, at work or at a summer cottage during your absence. To transmit the signal from the camera to the DVR, a coaxial cable is used - this is the most common television cable that connects antennas and satellite dishes.

Instructions

Step 1

Attach the coaxial cable to the wall using the herringbone fastener. This is the easiest and cheapest method, and hardware can be found at any hardware store.

Step 2

Attach the power cord of the camcorder to the coaxial cable using nylon ties (they are strong enough and weather resistant).

Step 3

Use the bayonet connector (NBC) to connect the signal to the CCTV camera. To connect the NBC connector to a coaxial cable, you need a special adapter - F-connector. To do it, strip the cable from PVC insulation, bite off the central core so that it protrudes from the connector by about 3-4 mm, screw the bayonet connector into the F-connector and rewind its base with insulating tape for a more secure installation.

Step 4

Connect the cable to the CCTV camera for the DVR from one side or for the video capture card on the other. To do this, you will need to attach the connector to the power cable. All types of CCTV cameras have one standard power connector, which eliminates unnecessary searches for the required connector. Previously, all connectors were exclusively for soldering, that is, at first you had to learn how to handle a soldering iron in order to connect the wire to the connector. Now you just need to unscrew the terminal screws with a small screwdriver, insert the "+" or "-" (blue or red) power wire stripped from the insulation and screw the terminals back.

Step 5

Hide the power unit in a junction box, usually installed near the camera. This will protect the wires from adverse weather conditions, dust ingress, and simply maintain the overall aesthetic appearance. In the case of dome cameras, the power supply is usually hidden in the ceiling above the camera.
