Using a USB flash drive, you may face the problem of not reading a certain amount of information stored on it. This information takes up space, but is not readable. To get access to it, you need to resort to the help of special programs.

Step 1
Insert the USB stick into the USB connector of your personal computer. Be sure to scan it for viruses, while the virus signature database of your antivirus must be up-to-date. Start reading information. First of all, double click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. A window will appear in front of you. Find the USB flash drive connection icon in it. Click on it with the right mouse button. Select Properties from the context menu.
Step 2
See how much memory is in use. Close this window. Navigate to the contents of the flash drive. Select all files and folders, right-click on the selected area. In the menu that appears, select the "Properties" item again. If the size of the selected files does not match the total amount of data that you viewed shortly before, this means that there is hidden information on the flash drive that cannot be read.
Step 3
Try to find hidden files using the standard operating system search. On the toolbar, left-click on the magnifying glass icon. In the search options, select Show hidden files and folders. Select your USB flash drive as the search directory. Run a search. If this method does not bring the desired results, in order to read the information, you need to download and install a file manager on your personal computer.
Step 4
Install and run Total Commander. Go to your USB stick. Typically, this file manager reflects the entire contents of the media, regardless of the settings. Browse through the list of files contained on your flash drive.
Step 5
In parallel, open the USB flash drive through the "Explorer" program. Check the lists. See if any new files are found. If so, see what properties are assigned to them and what they are. If necessary, remove them from your flash drive.
