Novice sailors always have certain difficulties. It is not so easy to master the art of setting sails correctly, it takes a lot of effort to learn how to correctly determine the course. Even getting anchored correctly is at first a rather difficult task, requiring sufficient knowledge and experience. But, as they say, the road will be mastered by the walking one.

Step 1
To begin with, you must determine the depth at the place where you are going to drop the anchor. The optimal one is considered to be 12 meters; it is on this one that it is most convenient to park. The fact is that in this case the anchor can be seen and, if necessary, dive after it. It is better if there are no other yachts nearby - in the event of a strong wind and rough seas, the “neighbors” who have unwound the chains to different lengths can ram each other.
Step 2
The chain should be etched to a distance of about three times the depth at which you anchor. Make sure that the chain does not lie on the anchor from above or, conversely, it does not float behind it, unwound too short, without touching the bottom. Slowly drag the anchor along the bottom and let it catch. Check to see if the boat has stopped securely by making sure that the anchor does not change position even with a tight chain less than 40 degrees.
Step 3
If the anchor does not catch on the first time and drags along the bottom, stop and start slow movement again. But it is not worth repeating these attempts endlessly: there is a high probability that the anchor will collect debris, which is quite a lot at the bottom, or get entangled in algae. Therefore, after several unsuccessful attempts, raise the anchor up and check if everything is in order, cleaning it if necessary. When you feel that the anchor is firmly entrenched in the ground, unwind the chain almost to its full length, leaving a few meters in the drum.
