Apple's iPad 4 tablet was unveiled in October 2012. At the time of release, the device had the most powerful features in the iPad lineup. To date, the release of the model continues due to its functional features, relatively low price and stability of work.
Specifications
IPad 4 runs on the iOS operating system. Initially, the device used iOS 6, but today the tablet is released under the control of one of the most recent versions of iOS 7.1. The device is powered by the Apple A6X processor with a clock speed of 1, 4 MHz and two cores. The A6X works in conjunction with the PowerVR SGX 554 graphics subprocessor, which has 4 cores, to display complex graphics and run resource-intensive graphics applications.
The device is available in versions with 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB of flash memory, which can be used to store movies, music and photos. The display installed on the device has a diagonal of 9.7 inches with a resolution of 2048x1536 based on an IPS matrix. At the same time, the screen provides a pixel density of 264 ppi (dots per inch). The front camera of the device has a resolution of 1.2 MP, while the rear camera can take pictures with a resolution of 5 MP.
Among the characteristic features of the tablet, we can note the presence of a specially made Lightning connector in it, which is used to replace the old port from Apple. Also, the tablet can work with 4G networks and has a built-in Wi-Fi module. Some iPad 4s are released without cellular support in order to reduce the tablet's face value. The iPad also comes with A-GPS for more accurate navigation.
Differences from other iPads
Compared to the iPad 3, the iPad 4 has twice the graphics performance, which noticeably affects the speed of the graphical interface and launching applications. A new Lightning connector has also been added to the 4th generation tablet. Another important difference of the new model is the installation of a new 1, 2 MP front camera, which is capable of shooting video at 720p. Prior to that, older iPads used a conventional VGA matrix.
The iPad 5 (iPad Air) generation, which was released a year after the iPad 4, is smaller and almost 30% lighter. The newer tablet model uses the Apple A7 processor, which runs at a clock speed of 1.4 GHz with support for 64-bit architecture, which gives a tangible performance boost.
Apple uses the M7 as an additional subprocessor, which processes data from the device's sensors, which also improves performance. The device has a new PowerVR G6430 graphics subprocessor. IPad Air also has stereo speakers for better sound reproduction.
