DVDRip

DVDRip is a copy, the source file for which is a DVD. The quality of such a video is usually not up to par, the video resolution is not high, however, like the original source, the sound quality also leaves much to be desired. Films of this format are the most common and are used for viewing on screens of a relatively small size, which allows the disadvantages to be less obvious. Videos of this type appear, for the reason that the size of a DVD disc is too large for uploading to the network and rewriting, which is why it is compressed to a smaller size, usually not exceeding 2 gigabytes. Most often, such a video has the avi extension, which indicates placement in the media container of the same name.

BDRip

BDRip is a copy, the source of which is a Blu-ray disc, showing the best picture, so the quality in this case, of course, is noticeably higher than that of DVDRip. The resolution of such video is usually HD (720 pixels) or even FullHD (1080 pixels), which significantly rises above the rest of the rips. The quality of the sound track in such a copy is close enough to the original, and in this respect the copy from the DVD disc is again much inferior to its rival. But, as you might guess, it is not without its drawbacks, you have to pay for the high quality of video and sound. Even with the maximum possible compression of the source, the size of the final file is about 10 gigabytes, or even more. Because of this, not every medium can fit a copy of this type. This is why BDRip is a less popular format. Such rips are often placed in mkv containers, which adds inconvenience, since there is a need for additional codecs for playback, which are not always present on playback devices.

Differences between DVDRip and BDRip

Ultimately, the main differences can be described as follows:

1. The sound and video quality of DVDRip is inferior to BDRip;

2. Extension DVDRip -.avi. BDRip -.mkv;

3. The size of the final DVDRip file is smaller;

4. DVDRip will fit on most media;

5. DVDRip does not require specialized codecs.
