Honor V10 (Huawei Honor View 10) is a simplified version of the flagship Huawei Mate 10. An excellent processor and curious smart chips made it possible to set a considerable price for this device, but the smartphone is quite competitive and worth a detailed consideration.
In addition to the smartphone itself, the package includes a charger with support for fast charging, instructions, a USB cable and a clip for opening the SIM card tray.
Positioning Honor V10
Honor is a sub-brand of Huawei that suddenly outperformed the main brand. Many buyers do not even know that Honor is the same Huawei, although completely different divisions are engaged in product development in the company. In Russia, the sales leaders are iPhone and Samsung, while Huawei and Honor smartphones are an attempt to draw off a considerable part of the market. And honor v10 was supposed to be just the device that should do this. On the one hand, this model is a kind of experiment, on the other hand, the phone is unlikely to become super popular due to its high cost.
Design
Design Huawei Honor V10 inherited from one of its predecessors - Honor 7x. Only now the fingerprint sensor has moved to the front panel (the same technique is different for the Mate 10 Pro and Mate 10). The location of the sensor cannot be called too convenient, because there is a constant risk of accidentally dropping the tube. The fingerprint sensor is combined with touch keys. If you hold down the button, the main screen opens, make a short press - go to the level up, swipe to the side - access the multitasking menu.
Honor View 10 comes to market in four colors: black, silver, gold and red.
On the right edge of the device there is an on / off button and a volume rocker. The bottom end is occupied by a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack and a charger input (Type C). On the left edge there is a combined slot: you can use two SIM cards or a tandem SIM card + memory card. Microphones (there are two of them) are located at the ends of the tube. The smartphone weighs 172 grams. It fits comfortably in the hand, the assembly is excellent: nothing creaks, no backlash.
Display
The diagonal of the screen is 5, 9 inches, the resolution is 2160x1080 - these are quite solid characteristics, comparable to top smartphones from other manufacturers. The aspect ratio is 18: 9 - a very popular screen geometry in the first half of 2018. The display has a protective Corning Gorilla Glass. The viewing angles are excellent, the picture looks bright and juicy. There is an automatic brightness control. White balance can be adjusted manually.
The disadvantages of the display include aggressively sharp backlight adjustment. For example, if you automatically adjust the colors immediately, rather than gradually, they become dull. A protective film is already glued on the screen, which is quickly scratched and spoils the appearance of the handset.
Honor V10 supports the mode of operation with gloves, however, when using it, the charge consumption increases by 15-20%.
Battery
The battery capacity is average - 3750 mAh. The battery itself is lithium-ion. In the talk mode, according to the manufacturer's assurances, the smartphone will last 22 hours, and in standby mode - about 550 hours. Thanks to fast charging, the battery can be fully restored in 1 hour and 15 minutes.
When the device goes into standby mode, in most cases it stops transmitting data in the background, which is perceived by most users as a disadvantage. It is much more convenient to carry the phone in your pocket while the automatic uploading of the captured photos to the cloud is in progress than to keep the phone in your hands all the time.
Iron
The manufacturer wished to install 6 GB of RAM on the model with 128 GB of internal memory. The second delivery option is 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB onboard. If you do not use a second SIM card, you can install a memory card with a capacity of up to 256 GB in its slot.
The Huawei Honor V10 has a HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor, which has 4 cores at 2.4 GHz and 4 cores at 1.8 GHz (all of them are Cortex-A53). All synthetic tests show excellent performance of the Mali-G72 MP12 GPU, which guarantees good performance even for high-performance games.
Simultaneous operation of both SIM cards in 4G mode is impossible, the second card will always be in 2G. Wi-Fi is standard but dual band. USB is only 2.0.
Cameras
The front camera has 13 megapixels and is nothing particularly outstanding. The main camera is double: the first has 16 megapixels, the second (with a black-and-white module) - 20 megapixels. The camera interface is standard and intuitive. There are many presets that can be used under different shooting conditions.
The professional shooting mode, which imitates SLR cameras, is well implemented. In the wide aperture mode, the photos are quite good.
Video can be recorded both in FullHD at 60 frames and in 4K at 30 frames.
The camera has announced the "chips" of artificial intelligence. The device itself recognizes what the user is currently shooting and automatically enhances the picture. Unfortunately, you can't turn off AI in auto shooting mode. Erroneous recognition occurs periodically.
In the camera settings, you can find a number of filters that remove the need to install the additional Prisma application and its analogues.
Software characteristics
The Honor V10 smartphone uses EMUI 8, which is quite an interesting and convenient software shell. There is an FM radio: it works, like everything else, only when headphones are connected, used as an antenna. When playing audio, you can tune the sound with a set of equalizers. Musically, the model is no different.
The pre-installed apps are typical for most Huawei models. In Honor, in principle, everything is only the most necessary, there are no memory-overloading excesses.
The device can act as an infrared remote control for household appliances.
Additional functions
- The Honor V10 has built-in Microsoft Translate with voice recognition, more languages and keyboard input.
- Face unlock is a function similar to the iPhone X. With 300,000 recognition points, the system cannot be fooled, according to the manufacturers.
- Scanning small objects with the camera and creating a three-dimensional projection of each of them.
- Firmware update over the air.
It would seem the most interesting "chips". They were promised, but never implemented. Face recognition does not work if the person is wearing a headdress, in a dark room, or on a sunny street. Perhaps the technology will be improved over time.
Cost and release date
Huawei Honor V10 went on sale at the very beginning of January 2018 worldwide. The release date in Russia, as expected, has been pushed back to a later date.
The new Honor v10 can be bought for 35 thousand rubles (model with 6/128 GB).
