A solar cell requires energy from the sun to work effectively. It will charge best on a fine day in an open area. By ensuring a constant supply of ultraviolet radiation to the surface of the device, you can achieve its full recharge.
Necessary
Alcohol based glass cleaner, soft cloth, charge controller, sunlight
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure the surface of the solar panel is clean before directing it towards the light. Examine it carefully. If the surface is dirty, wipe it gently with a cloth soaked in alcohol-based glass cleaner.
Step 2
In winter, the solar panel, which provides power to the house, must be free of snow. Shake off the snow cover and carefully remove the ice.
Step 3
Take a close look at the place where the solar panel is located. Remove unnecessary objects that might block its surface from the flow of sunlight.
Step 4
Check how the charge controller works. Only start the battery with a working instrument.
Step 5
If the controller charge is out of order, replace it before turning on the battery. You can purchase the cheapest version of the device - ON / OFF controller. It simply disconnects the solar panel from the battery when an overload occurs. There are PWM (pulse width converters) controllers that lower the voltage generated in the solar battery to the required numbers and maintain it at this level. It is best to use such devices, because using ON / OFF or disconnecting the battery on your own will permanently undercharge the batteries and will last much less than those that were regularly charged to 100%.
Step 6
In the absence of a controller, monitor the charging voltage with a voltmeter. When it reaches the desired numbers, the battery must be disconnected. If you do not turn it off in time, it will overcharge, boil off the electrolyte and shorten the battery life.
Step 7
In order to charge a solar battery on portable devices, it is necessary to clean its surface from contamination. The cleaning method is similar to that used in solar power plants. After that, the device must be exposed to sunlight. If there is no battery charge indicator, then on average it is necessary to expose it to ultraviolet radiation for 30 minutes.
