Headphones from the Beats brand (formerly called Monster Beats) are among the most popular on the market due to their high quality and stylish design. It is not surprising that many unscrupulous Chinese manufacturers became interested in them, and they started to produce fakes. In this regard, you need to know how to distinguish the original Beats.
The pirates are trying to copy the appearance of the Beats headphones and their packaging as closely as possible. However, to reduce production costs, as well as for some other reasons, they deviate from the original. For different models of headphones, there are signs by which you can distinguish a fake. The most common inconsistencies for Beats Tour headphones are:
- there is a serial number on the plug of the original headphones, there are no fakes;
- in the set of real Beats there is a case with an embossed "B" symbol;
- the earbuds are originally packed in a separate plastic pocket.
When it comes to the Beats Studio model, the following differences are common:
- the set of original headphones includes 2 AAA batteries, thanks to which the device is powered;
- there is no “mute” button on fakes;
- there must be a serial number of the device under the removable cover of the left ear cushion;
- real Beats have a power indicator - a lever with a red light that lights up when the headphones are turned on;
- the set of original headphones includes a jack adapter and a napkin with the Beats inscription.
Beats Pro headphones have their own characteristics by which you can recognize a fake:
- original headphones have soft cups and headbands, not hard, like fakes. All seams must be smooth and free from defects;
- the set of fake headphones may not include a jack adapter. In the original, it should be gold-plated;
- Real Beats Pros must have a detachable coiled wire.
Among other things, other distinctive features should be noted that will help to recognize a fake. For example, you can still find headphones sold under the “Monster Beats” brand, although since 2012 the brand has been called simply “Beats”, all headphone models should begin with the same name.
You should also be wary of stores that offer devices at discounted prices or conduct promotions like “buy one headphone and get a second pair for free. The original Beats are too expensive and too popular to have such a sale. Also, do not buy headphones of various colors, information about which is not available on the manufacturer's website.
Particular attention should be paid to the packaging of the headphones, because it is on it that pirates are trying to save money:
- the original box is notable for its quality, it contains instructions in different languages;
- the lid must open together with the top and side of the package;
- the company logo should be clear, not blurry;
- the original cover must be held by 2 magnets.
With the tips above, you can keep yourself as safe as possible from buying fake Beats headphones and enjoy the perfect sound quality and stylish design of the original.
