A mistakenly sent to print document with a large number of pages can create trouble in the form of a depleted cartridge or wasted sheets. There are several options for stopping the printer to deal with the problem you are experiencing.

Step 1
The most effective way is to turn off the printer. If it has a power button, press it; if not, unplug the power cord. You can also remove paper from the printer tray. This will also help stop printing. Alternatively, you can disconnect the printer cable from the computer. All of these steps will help you pause printing immediately, but after turning the printer back on or returning paper to the tray, you may find that the printer resumes printing.
Step 2
To completely stop the printing process, click on the icon with a picture of the printer on the taskbar. A dialog box will open displaying the documents that have been sent to print. Right-click on the document with the "Printing in progress" status and select the "Cancel" command from the context menu. Confirm your choice by clicking the "Yes" button. The document will be removed from the print queue.
