Step 1
Eliminate possible interference before connecting the infrared port to the computer. First, do not expose the infrared port to direct sunlight. The same situation with fluorescent lamps, when connecting, cover it or disconnect it. Second, remove unnecessary IR transmitters from the port's range. For example, a TV remote control. All this can greatly affect the quality of the established connection.
Step 2
Connect the port to your computer. It can be connected either via the COM port, USB port or into the motherboard connector. In the first two cases, everything is quite simple, you simply insert the device into the desired port and wait for the system to detect the device. To connect the infrared port to the motherboard, insert the connector into the corresponding socket. In appearance, this connector resembles PS / 2.
Step 3
Turn on your computer, go to BIOS. Go to the Integrated Peripherals section, switch the Onboard Serial Port 2 option to infrared (IrDA) mode. Set this item to the HPSIR operating mode. Set the IR Function Duplex to Full.
Step 4
You also need to set the TX / RX polarity to Hi / Lo. After rebooting, the operating system will automatically connect and install drivers for the infrared communication device. A blinking light icon will appear in the lower right corner of the screen, to see the properties of the established infrared connection, double-click on it.
Step 5
Prepare the infrared connection of your device to your computer. The distance between them should be no more than a meter. This will ensure a stable connection. It is best to place the port and the connected device directly next to the computer and remove any foreign objects, for example, remove the case from the phone.
