You can sing karaoke not only in a restaurant equipped with an appropriate machine, but also at home. This requires a special TV attachment. Besides performing the basic function, it can also be used as a DVD player.

Step 1
If you have a regular DVD player without mic inputs, don't rush to upgrade to a dedicated one. Purchase separately a special karaoke disc with songs of the genre you like. Connect the video output of the player to the TV directly, and the audio output through a mixer of any design. Connect the required number of microphones to the free inputs of the mixer.
Step 2
If you don't have a DVD player yet, your budget is limited, and the number of songs you want to play karaoke is small, get a player designed to use regular karaoke discs like those described in the previous step. Such a player differs from a usual one only in that it contains a built-in mixer, and a microphone (sometimes two) is included in its delivery set. Devices of this class are produced by many manufacturers. Any of them costs no more than 2,000 rubles. Their advantage is the presence of a video sequence on the disc, synchronized with the music, and the disadvantage is the small number of songs on one disc - only about two hours of music can be placed on it. To increase the assortment of works, it is necessary to purchase additional media.
Step 3
If you want to get one disc containing several thousand songs together with a karaoke player, pay attention to some of the devices manufactured by LG and Samsung. Some of them are made in the form of music centers that connect to TVs, while others are in the usual form factor of players. The melodies on the supplied disc are stored in MIDI format, which is why there are a lot of them on it. The same disc contains a video sequence that is selected at random and does not correspond in any way to the content of the song. It also contains files with lyrics, and sometimes - sound files of backing songs in WMA format. The song is selected through the menu or by direct dialing of its number found in the accompanying album. Also, the apparatus is equipped with a function for evaluating the quality of singing, but in practice, it is rather the loudness that is evaluated. The cost of such a player is from 5000 rubles.
Step 4
Periodically buy discs with an updated range of titles for such a player. They can also play karaoke discs intended for ordinary DVD players (but not vice versa!).
