If you are planning to record something on your computer using a microphone, or if you already have a recording but want to make sure it sounds good, there are some little tricks you need to do to improve the sound quality.
Necessary
- - Computer;
- - microphone;
- - digital mixer;
- - audio editing software.
Instructions
Step 1
Try to use the best quality microphone for your sound recording. A cheap microphone will sound the right way anyway. You can manipulate the recorded sound in various ways, but you will still notice that you are using a cheap microphone. However, you can connect the microphone to a professional digital mixer through the USB port of your computer to improve the quality of the recorded sound.
Step 2
Adjust the microphone recording quality in your system's audio settings. To do this, go to the "Settings Wizard" and follow the suggested steps. When necessary, start moving the microphone 3-5 cm away from you and change the settings displayed in the menu until you reach a sufficient level of microphone sensitivity. When the app prompts, speak into the microphone while continuing to move it until you are satisfied with the results. After completing the settings, save the result by clicking "Finish". Remember that if the microphone is too close to your face, your voice will sound too harsh during recording, and if it is far away, it can be very quiet.
Step 3
Download and install on your computer such professional audio editing software as Audacity, Cakewalk, Adobe Premiere. Go to the "File" menu and select "Open", then specify the path to the audio recording and press the "Open" or "OK" key.
Step 4
Use the application's dedicated tools to improve the recording quality. You can select a separate part of it for processing. Go to the main menu and select "Edit" or "Effects". Use tools such as Noise Reduction, Audio Enhancement, or others to change the sound of the recording to your liking.
