Cases when the power adapter of the system unit of a personal computer fails are common. In such a situation, the computer either simply does not turn on, or it turns off spontaneously at regular intervals. You can try to fix this situation yourself.
Instructions
Step 1
Disconnect the system unit of your personal computer from the electrical network. Disconnect all wires from it, and then use a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the left side panel. Using the same screwdriver on the back of the system side, remove the two screws holding the power adapter. There is a bar at the top of the system side that also holds it in place.
Step 2
Peel it back. Then, remove two more bolts that secure the power supply to the inner panel of the case of the system unit. Examine the unit body carefully. Nothing else should hold him back. If there are additional bolts, remove them. Then disconnect all power cables that go from the power adapter to the hard drive, drive, and motherboard.
Step 3
Disconnect them. Then remove the power adapter from the system unit. Pay attention to the smell. If the AC adapter smells like burning, stop all operations and take it to a service center. You will not be able to fix it yourself.
Step 4
Take a regular pump to fix the power adapter. A possible cause of power adapter failure is if it is clogged with dust. As a result, the operation of the cooling cooler becomes more difficult, it starts to rotate more slowly, which is why the power adapter itself overheats and turns off.
Step 5
Pump through the open surface of the PSU cooler to remove as much dust as possible. After that, plug it back into place. If it does not start working normally, you should contact the service center, as you will not be able to fix the power adapter yourself in this case.
Step 6
Purchase a new power supply if the old one cannot be repaired. Choose it based on the characteristics of the old one. You can take the power supply unit a little more powerful, so that there is a certain margin in case you, for example, decide to connect another hard drive or dvd drive. Make sure that the dimensions of the new power adapter do not differ from its predecessor, otherwise there may be problems with installation in the case of the system unit.
