There is no need to hack to play free games on the PSP game console. It can run not only programs of its own format, but also numerous applets of the SWF standard, otherwise called flash games.
Instructions
Step 1
Update your console's firmware to the latest available for the model you have. The newer the firmware, the more Flash games it will be compatible with. The firmware must not be hacked, but original, otherwise unsigned malicious code may be launched on the device, which can disable the console forever (the so-called bricking, literally - turning into a brick). The firmware update function is built into the menu, while the device must be connected to an open WiFi network with unlimited traffic. You will have to download about 30 megabytes.
Step 2
Find the "Settings" item in the STB menu, and the "Enable Flash Player" sub-item in it. Activate this sub-item.
Step 3
Go to the built-in browser of the console on a special site that contains only those Flash games that are compatible with it: https://www.pspflashgaming.com/ Select the game you are interested in and start playing it.
Step 4
To play the Flash game without WiFi connection, download it. To do this, open the source code of the page in a browser and find the line with the full path to the SWF file in it. For example: https://somesite.domain/folder/subfolder/largecoolgame.swf (this link is artificial and does not lead to a real file) Place the found path to the file in the address bar of your browser and download it.
Step 5
If necessary, purchase a Memory Stick for your PSP that is compatible with your console model. Connect it to the USB port of your computer, and it will be recognized as a USB flash drive (including in Linux). If you do not have an appropriate cord, use a card reader to work with the memory card.
Step 6
In the root folder of your memory stick, create a folder called "games" (without the quotes). This is where you put the SWF files you downloaded. Then correctly disconnect the console or card reader using the operating system, and then disconnect from the computer. If you used a card reader, move the memory card back to the PSP.
Step 7
In the built-in console browser, go to the following address: file: /games/flashgamename.swf (where flashgamename.swf is the name of the file with the game you want to run).
Step 8
Click the "Start" button. If an additional question appears, answer it yes. Start playing.
