A printer is an integral part of everyday office life. This peripheral has long been an essential piece of equipment for home use as well. To connect it, just follow the prompts of the instructions and the service menu. If the technique is good, the process shouldn't cause problems.
Instructions
Step 1
Connect your printer to the mains, after making sure that the power cable is working properly. Get original or compatible cartridges. Study the illustrations on the cover of the device or in the instructions. Install them correctly in the equipment connected to the network.
Step 2
Remove the USB cable. It must be connected to the computer and printer in the appropriate connectors. When properly connected, your PC system will display a message that new hardware has been detected. Open the Found New Hardware Wizard. In most cases, this window should appear automatically. Find your printer software disc. Insert it into your PC's floppy drive.
Step 3
The Found New Hardware Wizard will automatically find and install the correct software - the printer driver. All you need to do is confirm the system's requests in a timely manner. For example, by clicking on the next pop-up icon in the wizard window. If the device software is installed correctly, Windows will display the corresponding message: "The device is installed and ready to use."
Step 4
You can view the settings of the installed printer through the "Start" menu in the "Control Panel" tab. Find the Printers and Faxes menu item. Select your printer from the list of devices. Its designation must correspond to the name of the installed device. To test printing, right-click on the printer icon. In the window that opens, find the "Test Print" button.
Step 5
If your home has several LAN-connected computers and a printer is connected to one of the PCs, the equipment can be configured to be used on all PCs in the private LAN. Go to the start menu on the computer with the preinstalled printer. Select the Printers and Faxes or Devices and Printers tab. Find the item "Add Printer". The familiar Add New Hardware Wizard will open.
Step 6
In the wizard window, select the "Network Printer" tab and confirm the system requests with the mouse button and the "next" item. Select a shared printer from the list of devices provided by the wizard. When asked by the system to use the device by default, click the button of the manipulator on the "Ok" button. Windows will automatically detect the parameters of a correctly installed network device. Print access should appear on all computers on the private LAN.
