New channels have been introduced into the cable television network in your home. It would seem that one can rejoice: now there is no need to conclude an agreement with a third-party operator and rent a set-top box decoder. But here's the trouble: the neighbors' TVs receive these channels, but yours, connected to the same cable, does not. Why?
The first reason for this situation may be a simple lack of information about new channels in the TV's memory. In order to record this information into the device, it is necessary to carry out the so-called automatic channel scanning. How to do this is described in the instruction manual of the TV. After the auto scan finishes, if you wish, sort the channels through the menu so that they are again located in the order convenient for you. But what if some new channels did not start to be received even after the auto scan? This means only one thing: the television receiver simply does not cover the so-called hyper-range. The fact is that some of the new channels are being introduced into cable networks at frequencies between the meter and decimeter bands. Older TVs cannot be tuned to these channels. In addition, many of them have so few memory cells that it is impossible to write information about all available channels into them. In very old devices, there are only six or eight cells at all, and instead of digital memory, multiturn variable resistors are used. How to be in such a situation - to change the TV? Not necessary at all. A VCR (not a video player!) Or a DVD recorder (but not a DVD player) will help. Moreover, its mechanical units, which are responsible for working with cassettes or disks, may be faulty - the main thing is that the tuner works well. The device in this state can be bought very cheaply. But it should not be too old, capable of working in the hyper range. And then you will be able to receive on your existing TV all the channels that are in the cable network at home. The transfer of all of Russia to digital television is not far off. It is widely believed that after that everyone will need to change their TVs. In fact, of course, all you need to do is purchase a special inexpensive set-top box. And those who already have DVD recorders with built-in DVB-T tuners do not even have to do this additionally.
