Step 1
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. To do this, you need to launch the application on your computer and go to the "Help" menu, where select "Check for Updates".
Step 2
Download all available updates. If you do not have an Internet connection or do not access the Apple website, then you need to disable the program and try again after fixing the problem. Never start formatting iPod touch without updated software.
Step 3
Connect your iPod to your computer. Select your device from the menu on the left. Go to the "Overview" tab and select "Recover". After that, a window will appear prompting you to perform a backup. Click the "Copy" button in the right corner of the request. This will keep the current iPod touch settings in the event of a formatting failure.
Step 4
Start formatting. After the backup is created, a window will appear informing you that all your current data will be formatted and the device will be restored to factory settings. Click the "Restore" button. The formatting procedure starts. After its completion, an inscription will appear that the process has been completed and the device will be rebooted.
Step 5
Wait for the automatic restart or click the "OK" button. After that, the Apple logo will appear on the device screen. Wait for the inscription “iPod touch is activated”, then you can turn it off.
Step 6
Restore your backup data. This will revert all media files that were saved on iPod touch before formatting. To do this, you need to launch iTunes and select the "Recover from a copy" section.
