The frame is one of the most important parts of any motorcycle. It shapes its silhouette, shapes its appearance and defines its type and class. If you would like to remodel your motorcycle, change its style, then the frame can be lengthened in several ways.
It is necessary
- - semi-automatic welding;
- - assembly tools;
- - ready-made parts for modernization of the frame;
- - skills in performing welding works.
Instructions
Step 1
Get enough welding experience before upgrading motorcycle frames. Remember that the strength of the weld affects the safety of the structure. For new construction, it is better to use additional pipes from other frames. Also stock up on a powerful semiautomatic welding machine.
Step 2
Extend the motorcycle frame at the rear (behind the powertrain) to provide more legroom for the rider. Elongation can be adjusted individually and is often influenced by the rider's height. Remember that you will also need to extend the rear wheel drive. To give the bike the final chopper look, lengthen the frame in front of the engine by welding on pre-prepared parts. Transfer the control pedals to the rod. Choose the height of the pedals individually.
Step 3
Extend the rear of the frame to accommodate a wider wheel. Do not be too zealous, as you will not be able to fit a wheel that is more than 200 mm wide anyway. This upgrade will also inevitably require reworking the rear wheel drive. Experiment with the angle of the front fork to get a nice look, but be careful: if you tilt it more than 33 degrees, you run the risk of dramatically impairing the motorcycle's handling. Try reinforcing the upper frame tubes, traverses, and fork stays.
Step 4
Weld new rear shocks to the frame to visually lengthen the frame and enhance the look of the bike. Note that increasing the incline decreases the load capacity of the motorcycle. Also, lower the saddle line - this will work well with a longer frame.
