Satellite photography of the earth's surface is used in various practical spheres of human activity - economic and scientific. In the era of the Internet, any curious web surfer can access such images. True, one should not expect too much from them, nevertheless, the distance from which the survey is made is very large - two thousand kilometers from the planet's surface is considered a low satellite orbit. Therefore, most often satellite images are presented in the format of photomaps - this is their most widely demanded application.

Step 1
If you want to find satellite photos of a specific point on the earth's surface (for example, your home), use the popular Internet search engine Google. It is called Google. Maps, and you can get there by clicking on the "Maps" link in the very top line of the search engine's main page.
Step 2
By default, the photo image on Google maps. Maps opens in the smallest scale - so it is more convenient to navigate to the desired point. Use the mouse to move the image to the desired location, and then enlarge it - move the slider at the left edge of the photo card to the plus. You can save a fragment of a satellite photograph of the area using the "Print" button located to the left of the photo map.

Images of photo maps are updated every few years, and more recent, albeit much less detailed photographs of areas of the planet's surface can be found, for example, on the website of NASA - the American National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The link to the required page of this English-language web resource is in the list under the article. After loading the page into the browser, type in its only input field the name of the settlement in Latin letters and press Enter. Satellite photos are presented here in regular format images, so you can save them like any other images from web pages.

If you are interested not in any specific geographic points, but in fresh satellite images of the entire visible disk of the planet or large parts of it, you should look at the websites of meteorological services. Meteorological monitoring requires daily surface surveys, albeit on a small scale. A link to a site with photos from five meteorological satellites is also listed below. Usually very fresh (yesterday's) images of the Earth's surface are posted there.
