Nowadays, shops sell a lot of different flashlights, small and large, pocket and portable. If your child asks to buy him a flashlight, take your time to go to the store. We suggest you make a pocket flashlight with your own hands from scrap materials. The child will receive a useful little thing and gain valuable experience.
Necessary
- - two batteries 1.5 V each
- - a cardboard tube with a lid and a bottom, into which the batteries should fit well one after the other
- - a bulb for 2.5 V
- - cardboard
- - some thick paper
Instructions
Step 1
Crumple up a piece of paper and push it into the end of the tube. This is necessary so that the batteries inserted into the tube always reach the top of the tube. Roll up another piece of heavy paper and place it in the tube. The rolled paper will keep the batteries from dangling. Fold a piece of foil with a length of 18 cm along several times in the form of a strip. Bend one end of this strip with a hook.
Step 2
Slide a strip of foil into the tube so that the hook rests on the bottom and the other end protrudes outward. Then insert both batteries as shown in the illustration.
Step 3
Punch a hole in the tube cap with a boot knife or punch. The base of the light bulb should fit tightly into the hole.
Step 4
Fold the other end of the foil, about 8 cm long, and press one end against the edge of the hole in the lid. Screw the light bulb into the hole.
Step 5
Insert the lid so that the foil strips are side by side but not touching. Press the top strip against the bottom to complete the chain. The light will come on.
