Each device of the GSM standard is assigned a unique, non-repeating number - IMEI during manufacture. It is placed in the memory of the device, indicated on it and on the packaging container.
Instructions
Step 1
To find out the IMEI of a phone with a keyboard, exit all menus to the main screen, then dial * # 06 #. Since this command is not sent to the cellular network, but is processed by the device itself, you should not press the call button. The screen will display the IMEI number after pressing the last character of the command. You can find out this number from a phone with a touchscreen in the same way, having previously called up the virtual keyboard on the screen. For some devices based on Android OS, the IMEI number is also duplicated in the information about the phone displayed when the corresponding item of the "Settings" menu is selected.
Step 2
If your phone has a removable battery, turn off the device, remove the cover and battery, and then look at the sticker underneath. There, among other information, the IMEI is also indicated. After rewriting it, install the battery and cover, and then turn on the device again. It is usually impossible to find out a unique phone number without a removable battery in this way, since it is usually not indicated directly on the body of the device. But for USB modems, mobile routers, embedded modems, etc. the indication of IMEI directly on the case (or on the board, if the modem is unpackaged) is a common occurrence.
Step 3
Many phones and modems are capable of accepting AT commands. Connect the device to the computer, start the terminal emulator (Minicom, Hyper Terminal, etc.), select the port to which the phone or modem is connected, enter the ATZ command - the answer will be Ok, and then give the AT + CGSN command - the IMEI will be displayed in response. Do not enter commands, the meaning of which you do not know - the phone may be damaged, the data in it, a number dialed or a message sent, etc.
Step 4
Examine the packaging of the phone or modem - a sticker or stamp with the IMEI should also be on it. Sometimes this number is also present in the instructions. Everywhere - both in the memory of the device, and on its case, and on the box - the same numbers must be indicated, in which all the numbers coincide to one. If this is not the case, and at least one digit is different, the device may be stolen or flashed.
