The performance of your laptop's graphics card plays an important role in video playback and gaming. If you want to replace it, you must completely disassemble the laptop. This process usually involves disassembling the intricate parts and case of the laptop.

Instructions
Step 1
Turn off your laptop, unplug the power cord, and disconnect all external devices. Close the display lid and turn the laptop over. Remove the laptop battery. Put on an antistatic wrist strap before starting work to prevent damage to the motherboard during disassembly.
Step 2
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws from the memory compartment cover at the bottom right corner of the laptop. Remove the cover to gain access to the memory chips. Open the latches on each memory chip. Tilt the chips up at an angle and remove them from the slots.
Step 3
Remove the screws from the hard drive bay. Remove the cover to access the hard drive. Remove one screw that secures the hard drive. Pull gently on the hard drive and disconnect the power and data cable. Remove the hard drive from the bay.
Step 4
Disconnect the two cables from the wireless module located next to the hard drive bay. Unscrew one screw and remove the wireless module.
Step 5
Locate the optical disc drive. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry off the latch on the side of the drive. Pull the drive out through the side hole.
Step 6
Remove all Phillips screws on the underside of the laptop, turn the laptop over again, and open the display panel. Find the SD card slot. Press down on the slot cover to remove and slide it out of the slot.
Step 7
Insert a flat head screwdriver into the overlay above the keyboard. Carefully detach the laptop cover and turn it over. Disconnect the volume cable from the small board on the underside of the cover. Permanently detach the top cover from the laptop.
Step 8
Press the tabs along the top row of keyboard keys by hand. Disconnect the keyboard cable from the motherboard, and pull out the keyboard.
Step 9
Disconnect the monitor cable from the graphics card in the upper left corner of the motherboard. Remove the hinge screws that secure the display. Detach the display panel from the laptop.
Step 10
Disconnect the touchpad from the motherboard. Remove the three Phillips screws from the top cover. Gently lift the top cover to expose the motherboard.
Step 11
Remove the Phillips screws holding the graphics card. Disconnect the video card.
Step 12
Install a new video card and do all the steps in reverse order.
