Samsung's Galaxy family smartphones can be updated to a new software version through the device's menu or by connecting to a computer program that acts as an update manager for the device. The operation can be performed almost immediately after the release of a new version of the software.
Instructions
Step 1
Go to the settings section of your Samsung Galaxy by selecting the "Settings" icon, which is located in the main menu of the device. In the list of options available for changing, scroll down to select the "About device" section, which contains information about your device and the latest system updates.
Step 2
In the screen that appears, select the "System update" item, after clicking on which the phone will automatically start searching for the necessary updates. Before performing the procedure, make sure that you have activated a permanent Internet connection using Wi-Fi or 3G (4G).
Step 3
The smartphone will automatically contact the update server and install the necessary files if new software versions are available. When prompted to start installation, do not perform any operations on the phone until the procedure is complete. After the end of the procedure, you will receive a corresponding notification on the device screen.
Step 4
Updating Android software can also be done using a computer. Install Samsung PC Kies by downloading it from the official Samsung website. After installation, connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable that came with the device. When choosing a connection method, select the Media Mode option on the phone screen.
Step 5
Run PC Kies on the system. After the end of the search for the phone, the program will automatically start checking for new software versions for your device. If there are updates available, you will see a corresponding notification, after the closure of which the download and installation of the new version of Android will begin. Do not perform any actions on the phone until the update is complete.
