In case of emergency, many modern cell phones can be used as modems, providing computers and laptops with Internet access. The bandwidth and stability of the channel will, of course, not be up to par, but sometimes it can really help out.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, connect your cell phone to your computer using a data cable, infrared port or Bluetooth protocol. On the phone itself, the function of using the phone as a modem must be enabled (varies depending on manufacturers and models).
Step 2
Go to the Control Panel of your computer and click on the "phone and modem" tool.
Step 3
Click the Add button and install the modem drivers for your phone model. Also specify the port that the modem will use.
Step 4
Now open the properties of your created modem and, if necessary, add an initialization string to its setting (individually for each cellular operator).
Step 5
Set up the connection according to the settings of your mobile operator.
