Everyone is familiar with the ICQ instant messaging service. There are many different java applications that allow you to use this service through your mobile phone. The installation and configuration of all these applications are very similar, as an example, consider installing on the phone, perhaps the most popular Jimm client.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, download the application from the Internet, you can do this completely free of charge by visiting the official jimm website - https://jimm.org. Before downloading, pay attention to the features of the application, it can be selected for a specific phone model. It is possible to download the application for older versions of java (MIDP1), however, most modern phones support the MIDP2 version. If your phone does not support direct installation of applications from.jar files, then you will need to download the file with the.jad extension, which contains the path to the.jar file to download
Step 2
Copy the downloaded file to your phone (if you did not download directly from the phone) and install it by running the installation file. After installation, the downloaded file can be deleted. Jimm will appear in the list of phone applications.
Step 3
Make sure that GPRS Internet is configured on your phone, not WAP.
Now you need to configure jimm. Go to Options / Account menu, enter your UIN and password here. Next, go to the Options / Network menu item and make the following settings
1. Servers (Host name): login.icq.com
2. Port: 5190
3. Connection type: Socket
4. Keep connection alive: Yes
5. Ping timeout: 120
6. Connect automatically: optional
7. Connection settings: Asynchronous transfer
8. Do not change User Agent strings and wap-profile.
select Win1251 encoding in the Interface menu item. Save all changes and restart Jimm.
Step 4
Now you can click on the "Connect" button, and you will need to agree to the transfer of data via the Internet.
