Videos recorded with a camcorder can be copied to a computer in various ways. It all depends on the storage medium on which it is stored. In some cases, you may need special software to transfer video from a camcorder.
Instructions
Step 1
If the camera records video to a removable medium (flash card), then connect the video camera to the computer to copy it. If necessary, first install special drivers on it. The connected camcorder must be recognized by the computer as a removable disk. Open your file manager, find it and open it. Typically, there is only one movie folder on a given removable disk. Copy them all or just the necessary ones and paste them into a folder located on the local computer.
Step 2
If the flash card to which the video is recorded is not built into the camera, then to copy the video, remove it and insert it into a card reader connected to the computer or built into it. After that, open the flash card using any file manager and copy the necessary videos to your computer. This method is no different from copying information from a regular flash card, and its advantage over connecting a whole camera is a higher data transfer rate, as well as the absence of the need to install drivers.
Step 3
When recording video to tape (for example, a miniDV cassette), to copy the video from the camera, you will need a special DV cable, a special card installed in the computer, and a video editing program such as Pinnacle Studio. To copy video, connect the camera to your computer, run the program and click on the "Capture" tab in it. After that click the "Browse" button and select the folder where the video will be copied. Also set the optimal settings for its quality and format (if necessary, the video can be converted "on the fly"). Then click on the Start Capture button. Copying a video will only take as long as the required video is.
